Crystal Palace captain, Miles Jedinak could face a spell on the sidelines after going off with a hamstring strain in the second half of the Eagles 4-1 victory over Shrewsbury Town in the second round of the Capital One Cup last night, as reported by Sky Sports.
Palace manager, Alan Pardew believes it may be a ‘long term’ injury but said that the club will have to assess the Socceroos captain before the extent of the damage done can be known.
The manager said:
“I’m a little bit worried about the skipper, he might have done a hamstring, but we’ll have to wait and see. We think he might have done something a little bit long-term, but we’ll have to assess him in the morning.”
The 31-year old has been a mainstay in midfield for Palace for over five seasons proving to be an instrumental figure on and off the pitch. Despite being a mainstay Jedinak has featured sparingly so far in Palace’s opening three Premier League encounters coming on as a late substitute in their 2-1 victory over Aston Villa at the weekend.
The Eagles also have slight concerns over knocks picked up by Dwight Gayle and Wilfried Zaha in their extra-time victory over the Shrews last night ahead of their trip to Stamford Bridge on Saturday afternoon.
