Crystal Palace want to complete a move for Paul Dummett before the transfer window closes say Chronicle Live, but could struggle to finalise a move before the deadline due to the fact they haven’t made a formal bid as yet for the Newcastle United defender, who is reportedly worth £8 million.
Alan Pardew knows the player from his time at St. James’ Park, and wants to make him one of the final summer signings at Selhurst Park. The possibility of a move has been opened up by the departure of Barry Bannan to Sheffield Wednesday on a permanent deal, and the imminent sale of Glenn Murray to Bournemouth.
Pardew believes the experience Dummett has gained from his time with The Magpies can make him a valuable asset to Palace, but whether they’ll bid the £8 million necessary to persuade Mike Ashley to let go remains to be seen.
Sky had reported Palace were targeting a defender, and Dummett could be that man.
