Crystal Palace striker Glenn Murray has joined fellow Premier League side AFC Bournemouth on a three-year deal.
Murray, who spent the first half of last season on loan at Reading in the Championship, returned to Palace in January as Alan Pardew went looking for goals – and the striker delivered, scoring seven times and assisting a further three efforts in the 17 Premier League games he played.
The 31-year-old has played twice for Palace in the league this season but with Patrick Bamford and Connor Wickham both having arrived this summer, Alan Pardew is happy to let Murray go; Bamford was the Championship Player of the Year last season and moved to Selhurst Park on loan from Jose Mourinho’s Chelsea.
Murray arrived at Bournemouth’s ground for a medical early on Tuesday morning and will join Callum Wilson up front for the Cherries, who registered their first ever Premier League win by beating West Ham 4-3 just over a week ago, with Wilson scoring a hat-trick.
He joins Bournemouth for a fee in the region of £4 million
Murray had this to say, speaking on air to Sky Sports News: “I spoke to the manager and the team and it just feels right”
“It’s well documented that Bournemouth like to play their football and I think I’ll give them a different dimension”.
