Crystal Palace have immediately rejected a ‘stupid’ bid from Tim Sherwood’s Aston Villa for striker Dwight Gayle, according to Sky Sports News HQ; as announced live on the television channel
Gayle, who turned down Bristol City earlier this summer after the Championship side had a £8 million bid accepted by Alan Pardew, may stay at Selhurst Park as a striker further up the pecking order looks set to leave the club.
31-year-old Glenn Murray has been pictured at Bournemouth’s Dean Court as he edges closer to a move to the Premier League side, to partner young Callum Wilson, who has 4 goals in as many games, up front for the Cherries.
Gayle has struggled for game time, with Murray, Patrick Bamford and Connor Wickham, two of whom arrived this summer, are ahead of him in Pardew’s plans, but he may relish the chance to fight for his spot if Murray is to leave the Eagles in a last-minute switch today.
