Crystal Palace took the trip to White Hart Lane on Sunday to come up against a Tottenham Hotspur side who were without a win at home in the Premier League this season.
As we know, the game finished 1-0 to the hosts thanks to a brutal counter-attack which saw Heung-Min Son score on his league home debut.

Despite this, Palace did have their chances to find the net but were prevented by the woodwork twice from Yohan Cabaye and Bakary Sako respectively. Here are four things we found out from the London derby:
Make your chances count:
If there’s one thing that Pardew’s men will look back on in that game, it will be hitting the post twice. They’re the kind of chances that, especially at 0-0, you need to be taking because it can come back to haunt you, just like it did when Spurs found the net in the second half.

If Pardew has a problem, he doesn’t mind sharing:
It was fair to say that young winger Wilfried Zaha obviously didn’t impress his manager yesterday afternoon, with the ex-Newcastle United boss showing no hesitancy to tell the media how he felt about the Englishman’s performance.
Speaking to the Daily Mail, Pardew said:
I didn’t think Wilfried played well so I took him off. The issue with Wilfried is that he’s a fabulous footballer, and I’m trying to get him to understand that every game is very important.

It’s about concentration and having that same desire to defend, to attack, for movement and everything that a top player produces, and unfortunately today [Sunday] I don’t think he did that.
Crystal Palace are aiming high this season:
Let’s just take a step back and look at just how far Crystal Palace have come as a club. Not long ago, the Eagles were extinct after money problems. But now, we are disappointed that we’ve picked up two losses against Manchester City and Tottenham. The fight by the players in both games were faultless and Pardew has come back to SE25 and is working wonders.

Yannick Bolasie belongs to the Eagles:
After of plenty media speculation in the summer suggesting that Yannick Bolasie was set for a switch to Spurs, the traveling Palace fans made it clear where the DR Congo’s home really is with this song. Despite the heavy suggestions in the summer, Pardew was quick to rule out that the clubs had any contact regarding a potential transfer.
