Jonny Williams aims to return to the Palace first team when the new year rolls around.
The Welsh international is currently on loan at Championship club Nottingham Forest after yet another spell on the sidelines since last season.
The 22-year-old returned to action for his country during their 2-0 win over Andorra last night and said this after the game:
It was a bit emotional at the end of Tuesday, just to be fit again,” said Williams, who will also be looking to play at Euro 2016. Now I’m happy so as long as I stay clear of nasty challenges, I’ll be OK.
The academy product played a pivotal role in Palace’s promotion in the 2012-13 season and thus won himself Crystal Palace player of the year.
Williams still wants to play in the Crystal Palace team and has described it as a ‘dream’ to play in red and blue once again.
I think the main thing for me until January is to stay fit, and if I can do that and play as many games as I can, I’d be delighted. It would give me the best chance to play in the red and blue, because that’s the dream and it’s been a long time. Fingers crossed I can do that.
Jonny Williams or ‘Joniesta’ is a fans favourite at Palace and his return to Selhurst Park will be highly anticipated.
