Crystal Palace striker Connor Wickham played for the first time since the 2-1 away win at Chelsea in the latter stages of August.
The 22-year-old played sixty minutes in the 1-0 defeat to Bristol City’s development squad at Selhurst Park yesterday. Despite the defeat, Wickham feels that he is ready to head back into the first team and is ready to show the Crystal Palace fans exactly what he can do against Liverpool this weekend.
On a personal note, it was good for me to be back out there, It felt good, I felt good. Obviously, I’m not as fit or as sharp as I will be in a few weeks time, but it’s all just a work in progress and I’m happy to be back.
The former Sunderland man was bought in the summer by Crystal Palace, as they looked to bolster their attack, but the strikers stint at Selhurst Park has been halted by injury.
Of late, Palace have been struggling to score goals in the Premier League and it has seen the Eagles drop to 10th position. And with Wickham returning, former Newcastle boss Alan Pardew will be hoping the Englishman can bring an end to the lack of goals.
