Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew says his side have a big advantage over the best sides in the Premier League, as reported by London24.
Sunday’s impressive victory over Liverpool at Anfield saw them leapfrog the two Merseyside clubs into eighth position, just two points off Tottenham and five behind Manchester United, who occupy the last Champions League berth.
And Pardew believes the fact that his team are not currently involved in anything but the Premier League could help them to their highest ever Premier League finish.
We have no complications: no Europa league, no League Cup so the league programme is right at the top of the agenda. That helps us because all the big clubs have Europe to contend with.
Palace have now taken three points from Stamford Bridge and Anfield already this season, but the 54-year-old still thinks there is so much more to come from his players if they believe in themselves as a unit.
I said to the players afterwards that the problem with this team is it doesn’t trust how good it can be. We proved that when we backed off (against Liverpool).
When we went toe-to-toe I thought it was an even game, but it is difficult to do that at these big arenas.
The Eagles next game is against an out of sorts Sunderland at Selhurst Park a week Monday, a massive opportunity to build on the win at Liverpool.
