Against Liverpool just before the international break, Alan Pardew opted to use the 4-4-2 formation that worked in his favour, and it was different from the usual 4-2-3-1.
Bakary Sako and Yannick Bolasie were played up front by the former Newcastle manager. When Connor Wickham came on, the formation was reverted back to the 4-2-3-1.
However, when the Eagles host Sam Allardyce’s Sunderland at Selhurst Park on Monday evening, it’s been suggested that Wickham is going to start against his former side, which would see the formation return to normal.
