Crystal Palace gifted Sunderland a 0-1 victory at Selhurst Park with 10 minutes to go, as Jermain Defoe pounced on a mistake from English defender Scott Dann to give travelling Sunderland a very important three points.
For the majority of the game, it was a pure midfield battle. Younes Kaboul was working wonders at the back for the visitors and, on numerous occasions, did well to prevent any threat from Wilfried Zaha and Yannick Bolasie.
Alan Pardew’s side had numerous chances to get in front before the Black Cats took the lead. A win for The Eagles would have lifted them up to sixth in the Premier League table.
