Crystal Palace’s James McArthur has responded to reports linking him with a move to Arsenal.
The Scotland international says he’s ‘not going to listen’ to rumours he could be moving to the fellow London side in January.
It’s thought Arsene Wenger had identified McArthur as a possible replacement for Francis Coquelin, who’s currently injured. He’d then, of course, provide good competition for the position when the Frenchman returns.

Arsenal also have Santi Cazorla injured, so currently seem short in the middle of the park – especially heading into the busy Christmas period.
McArthur was keen to play down the links, however. (Quotes via Croydon Advertiser)
I’m not going to listen to the rumours. I am just going to go about my job at Crystal Palace, because I am really enjoying my football.

Eagles manager Alan Pardew was also asked about the links, and he responded emphatically with praise.
James McArthur has been outstanding since I’ve come to Palace. I always admired him at Wigan Athletic, and it’s not a surprise to me he’s been linked to a top club.
He plays international football for Scotland and he plays a very high level of football for us, so it’s not a testament to Palace, it’s more a testament to James. He’s a great team player.
McArthur’s current contract expires in 2018 at Selhurst Park, so any move would likely command a decent transfer fee, but it appears he’s happy at Palace and keen to help the team achieve something in the near future.
