The Crystal Palace chairman, Steve Parish, has revealed his club’s plans for the January transfer window.
The Eagles sit sixth under Alan Pardew, but despite new investors joining the club board last week, Parish says they aren’t looking to do major business during the winter opening.
Speaking about transfers, the chairman said (quotes via SLP):
I think it is going to be opportunist. We’ll be looking at the January window on the basis that if something comes along that we think will make us better that we might do it.
We want to try and get a Europa place – but it’s a bit early really. We’ve got a plan that makes this team better in the long term.
Parish was also understanding that because of his club’s rise, it’s more difficult to find players to improve an already impressive squad that’s performing so well.
It’s difficult now because we’re at the top of that pyramid of talent. We’re really fishing in a different pond and it is hard to find those people. The January window is also not always the best time for that. But if something comes along that we think is right then we’ll do it.

With a busy Christmas period ahead, Pardew and his side will be looking to cement their excellent start to this campaign.
If their aim is Europa League qualification, a profitable December/January will help them on their way no end.
First up for the Eagles is a trip to the South coast on Boxing Day to face Bournemouth – no easy task!
