Crystal Palace boss Alan Pardew has said that there is ‘no truth’ in any of the names linked to the club in this transfer window (GetWestLondon).
Pardew has hit back at ex-Palace manager Neil Warnock after he said that Charlie Austin would work well at Crystal Palace.
Pardew heard about the comments on talkSPORT, and mentioned them in his press conference ahead of Crystal Palace’s FA Cup clash with Southampton on the weekend, saying that he was simply not looking at signing the striker.
Pardew simply said:
“Neil Warnock was the manager here and he didn’t do very well so I am not really interested in his opinion. Charlie Austin is of no interest to us”
Pardew also played down rumours of players, especially Emmanuel Adebayor being linked with a January transfer to Selhurst Park. Another name mentioned recently was Swansea City’s Jonjo Shelvey, who has been in bad form for Swansea and reportedly wants out of the Welsh club.
Alan Pardew did however say that there are ‘one or two’ players in the frame for Crystal Palace, but he did not reveal any names of the targets.
He also criticised the ‘media-savvy’ world that managers are involved in, meaning that the managers have to know what has been said.
“Somebody is giving out false information. We are looking at one or two choices but the names that have been linked with us, it is not them. You are always having to make progress. We all know the prize in May of staying in the Premier League. There is a little less pressure on us but that doesn’t mean we are not in the game and we are determined to make sure there is business there if it is right for us.”
