Former Premier League referee Graham Poll believes that Crystal Palace striker Connor Wickham should be handed a ‘lengthy ban’.
According to Poll, speaking in his column for the Daily Mail, the 22-year-old, who was seen elbowing Tottenham Hotspur defender Jan Vertonghen in the face, Wickham can and should be given a ban by the FA for the move.

Connor Wickham should face a lengthy ban after catching Jan Vertonghen in the face with his elbow in the 75th minute, an incident referee Martin Atkinson missed.
The players were running in the penalty area when Wickham caught Vertonghen.
At top UEFA referee meetings it is highlighted that when a player elbows an opponent with force he clenches his fist.
The FA have the power to charge the Palace player with violent conduct and even extend any ban.”

Referee Martin Atkinson missed the collision on the day of the game, which ended with the visitors to Selhurst Park, Spurs, running away with a 3-1 victory after strikes from Harry Kane, Dele Alli and Nacer Chadli saw them gain all three points.
With Wickham facing a potential ban, he could miss out on games against the likes of Bournemouth at home, Swansea City away and the visit of high flying Watford.
Palace’s loss to Spurs saw them drop down the table to outside of the top 10, and are without a win since the 19th December.
