Crystal Palace had to come from behind to earn a crucial point at Upton Park, a point that keeps them seven above the drop-zone and crucially, the Eagles have a much better goal difference than the three teams who will be hoping to catch them.
Palace took the lead thanks to a rare Damien Delaney goal, but their advantage was quickly cancelled out by Manuel Lanzini’s equaliser.
A wonderful free-kick from Dimitri Payet put the home side in front before Cheikhou Kouyate was harshly dismissed.
Dwight Gayle’s strike eight minutes later gave Alan Pardew’s side a foothold in the game, but in the end, neither side could score a crucial third goal to earn a victory.
Most Palace fans would have taken a point if offered it before the game, but having taken an early lead and also having played against ten men for 25 minutes or so, the Eagles certainly had a chance to get a much-needed win.
