Crystal Palace all-but-guaranteed their Premier League status for next season by defeating Norwich City 1-0 at Selhurst Park.
The win means Palace end the weekend ten points clear of Sunderland, but the Eagles have a huge advantage in terms of goal difference so the Black Cats would need to earn 11 more points than Alan Pardew’s side in the last six games of the campaign in order for Palace to go down and the chances of that happening are slimmer than slim.
Palace won their first league game since December thanks to a goal from the returning Jason Puncheon, who looked very emotional as he celebrated.
Pardew sprung a surprise with his starting XI as he chose to drop Wilfried Zaha to the bench with Bakary Sako starting the game on the opposite flank to Yannick Bolasie, with Dwight Gayle preferred to the fit again Connor Wickham up front.
