In Crystal Palace’s press conference earlier today, manager Alan Pardew discussed the club’s upcoming match against Everton as well as his desire to remain with the Eagles as their head boss.
Pardew began the press conference by discussing last week’s important win against Norwich.
Twitter: AP: It gives everybody a lift (winning). We weren’t expecting that run to go on as long as it went on. (@CPFC)

The 1-0 win against the Canaries should lift some pressure off of Pardew. His Crystal Palace side had an exceptional first half of the season, but a terrible new year saw that the Eagles would be the only top tier English side without a win in 2016. However, a goal from midfielder Jason Puncheon helped Crystal Palace seal their first win of the year, relieving pressure from Pardew.
Pardew spoke more on the match:
Twitter: AP: The confidence levels, hopefully, have gone up. And our nervousness has disappeared. (@CPFC)
The English Manager spoke on the topic of relegation, he is quoted:
Twitter: AP on safety: It’d be pretty difficult for the other teams to catch us at that level [if we beat Everton]. (@CPFC)
Following his discussion on safety, Alan Pardew explained that he’d like to remain with Crystal Palace following his club’s bad form.
Twitter: AP: Once we’re safe hopefully I’ll sign a new contract here, because I want to stay here. (@CPFC)
But should Pardew remain with Crystal Palace?
The Crystal Palace boss has seen his London team slip from a Europa League spot to a relegation battle, but Pardew plans to remain with the side for the upcoming year. Pardew does have a good enough reason to stay with the Eagles. The Eagles manager discussed the club’s dip in form. He said:
Twitter: AP: The first half of this season we got it right, but the second we haven’t. We need to address that. (@CPFC)
The Eagles will most likely stay on top as they remain six points above 17th place Norwich City, who has played one more game than Crystal Palace.

Pardew has created a solid team with Crystal Palace and deserves more time. Injuries have been hindering the sides ability to win. Clubs need a consistent side to go out week in and week out, but Pardew hasn’t been given this gift.
In addition, if Pardew is able to lead Palace to a FA Cup trophy, then he would have an even stronger case to stay with the club.
Pardew’s quote was an odd thing to hear. Many Crystal Palace fans haven’t been thinking about the 54-year-old being sacked. However, if the manager had to discuss his desire to remain with the club, there must be something going on behind the scenes. But Palace shouldn’t sack Pardew, he has built a team for the future, which needs time to take shape. Getting rid of the English manager would be nothing but a mistake for the London club.
