Crystal Palace will face Manchester United in the FA Cup final after defeating Quique Sánchez Flores’ Watford side 2-1 in a tense semi-final encounter at Wembley.
Palace took an early lead thanks to a back post header from Yannick Bolasie and remained the dominant team throughout the first half and might have been disappointed to just have a one-goal lead at the break.
Ten minutes into the second half, Watford drew level when captain Troy Deeney headed home Jose Manuel Jurado’s corner.
Palace weren’t level for long, though. Just six minutes after Deeney’s equaliser, Connor Wickham’s header put the Eagles back in front and despite a barrage of long balls as full time approached , Watford hardly created a chance as Alan Pardew’s side defended resolutely right up until the final whistle.
A disappointing Premier League campaign will soon be forgotten if Palace can win the FA Cup against Man United in a few weeks time.
