England manager Sam Allardyce has tipped Andros Townsend to ‘re-emerge’ at new club Crystal Palace, in an interview with the Evening Standard.
Townsend, who has recently joined from relegated Newcastle, missed out on joining England at the 2014 World Cup thanks to injury, and was cut from the preliminary squad for Euro 2016.
Allardyce suggests that he will be able to put his name back in contention for a spot in the England squad over the next two years:
You have Shaw coming back from injury at Manchester United And you’ve also got Townsend, who looked like an international world beater a couple of years ago.

The 25-year-old has made appearances for Crystal Palace during their pre-season friendlies. After his debut match against Philadelphia Union, Alan Pardew called his performance the ‘real highlight of the game’ .
The English winger started off his career at Tottenham Hotspur, going on loan to sides like Yeovil Town, MK Dons, and Leeds United between 2009 and 2013. He made 50 Premier League appearances overall for Spurs.
Last winter he moved to Newcastle for a reported £12 million, after not starting a league game for Spurs during the 2015/16 season. While he scored four goals in 13 Premier League games, it wasn’t enough to save Newcastle from relegation.
