Crystal Palace haven’t started their Premier League campaign in the best possible manner having been defeated at Selhurst Park by West Bromwich Albion 1-0.
Palace only really came into the game in the second half after a dominant first from the Baggies. Both sides failed to gain a real hold of possession and create real chances in the game.
West Brom broke the deadlock as Connor Wickham wasn’t supplied with enough chances for the Eagles as the visitors defended well.
It was Venezuelan striker Salomon Rondon who opened the scoring after a curling James McClean cross met his head brilliantly.
Once Rondon had opened the scoring from a header for his side, Tony Pulis’ side held onto the lead by parking the bus in their half.
Yannick Bolasie came on as a substitute during the second half but his inclusion lead to nothing but half-hearted chances.
Not the best start to the season but there were absences of new signings Steve Mandanda and James Tomkins from the starting XI.
