Crystal Palace forward Kwesi Appiah is poised to leave the club on loan, with Southend interested, having recovered from a career-threatening injury, according to Ghana Soccer Net.
The 26-year-old joined Palace from non-league Margate in 2012 but has spent most of his time at the club out on loan, and it looks as though the next few days will feature a deal of the same ilk.
Appiah has made just six appearances for the Eagles and has been pushed down the pecking order even further by the arrival of club-record signing Christian Benteke and the expected signing of Loic Remy on loan from Chelsea.
League One Southend, who are managed by former Hull City boss Phil Brown, have shown an interest in taking the Ghanian international on loan and talks are expected to take place in the next 48 hours.
Previous loan spells have seen Appiah play for Cambridge United, Reading, Notts County and AFC Wimbledon.
