Crystal Palace manager Alan Pardew has confirmed that his team are close to agreeing a deal for a player when speaking to the Croydon Advertiser.
Pardew confirmed that a deal was near, but played down links to Liverpool forward Mario Balotelli. Pardew did, however, confirm that he was interested in Chelsea stiker Loic Remy. The Englishman said that not only is one deal close, but he hopes to get ‘two or three’ done before the window slams shut at 11pm on Wednesday night.
We are close to someone. We are hoping to get over that one over the line and we are still looking at bringing in two or three more.

Pardew did say that there could be deadline day drama, with Palace having been busy in the final hours a number of times. He also said that he wants Palace to buy rather than sell in the remainder of the window.
My chairman has a history of being busy on deadline day and I’m going to mark him tightly [to get some] ins rather than outs
