Crystal Palace have made a proposal to Santos in an attempt to sign midfielder Lucas Lima, according to a report from UOL Esporte.
However, the player and his representatives are reluctant to accept the offer for the 26-year-old as Palace want to take him on loan for a season, with a view to a permanent transfer.
Furthermore, the Brazilian international is said to be happy to wait for offers from more established European clubs but has admitted that he dreams of a move to either England or Spain.
Santos would also like a permanent transfer rather than a loan deal, as they actually only own 10% of the player’s rights. As is common with a lot of South American players, an investment agency owns 80% of Lima’s rights, whilst an entrepreneur, Edson Khodor, owns the remaining 10%.
Lima has confirmed he has an offer from England amid interest from Palace, but refused to disclose more information on a future transfer (h/t Sambafoot).
“Anything is possible. A lot can happen in the window. I speak generally. The Olympics is over now and it will be busy.
“I’m happy for the team, the campaign in Brazil. I am calm. There has been speculation in the press and not everything that comes out in the press was true. I am calm. At the beginning of the window it hindered me a little, now I’m down to earth, quiet.
“I had something from England and from China in this window, which I did not hear about in the media. Some clubs approach you and do not come out in the press,”
