Crystal Palace were probably the better team at Goodison Park as they earned a 1-1 draw against Everton
Wilfried Zaha was deemed fit enough to play after missing last weekend’s win over Sunderland and started on the right, with Jason Puncheon moving back into his favoured central role.
The first half hour was a pretty quiet affair but Everton took the lead thanks to a Romelu Lukaku free-kick given for a high boot against Damien Delaney, despite Phil Jagielka clearly handling the ball. The Belgian lifted it over the wall, with Steve Mandanda annoyed that his defenders didn’t jump.
After 50 minutes, Christian Benteke’s header drew Palace level as he rose above Seamus Coleman to meet Joel Ward’s cross and put it into the far corner.
It should have been 2-1 to Palace shortly after but Damien Delaney’s header was incorrectly ruled out for offside.
Palace looked the more likely to get a winner but couldn’t manage to get it, with James Tomkins’ header probably their best chance.
