Crystal Palace suffered their first defeat in five league games thanks to West Ham’s Manuel Lanzini, who converted Aaron Cresswell’s low cross in the 19th minute.
It could have been a different story for Palace had Christian Benteke been able to convert his penalty. However, the Belgian, who is usually so reliable from the spot, hit one of the worst penalties you’ll ever see.
Moments later, he has a chance to make up for the error but his header found the post rather than the back of the net.
West Ham were reduced to ten men with around fifteen minutes to go when Aaron Cresswell picked up two bookings in quick succession but Palace couldn’t take advantage and finished the game goalless.
The result, combined with Southampton’s win over Burnley on Sunday, means Palace finish the weekend in ninth place in the Premier League table.
