There have been a number of memorable fixtures between the two teams in the history of the game but more so in recent years, since Palace’s return to the Premier League including Crystanbul in 2014.
Christian Benteke was a name to mention in the last fixture in South London between the two teams with the player being adjudged to have been fouled by Damien Delaney, with referee for this Saturday’s game also, Andre Marriner, wrongly awarding the penalty in which it was clear to see Benteke had dived.
Crystanbul is one of the more obvious of candidates to the younger generation of Palace fans and those of recent memories at Selhurst Park, with a night under the lights being up there among the fixtures.
Other memorable encounters over the years include the 1989/90 FA Cup Semi-Final, FA Cup Replay in 2002/03 and more forgettable for Palace fans among the lot, the 9-0 defeat in 1989/90.
