Crystal Palace are reportedly interested in the ‘non-league’ Yannick Bolasie, Brandon Scott – who plies his trade in the Ryman League Division One South, with Cray Wanderers, according to a report in the Croydon Advertiser.
Scott started his career at League One outfit Charlton Athletic, before moving to Southend United where he was subsequently released earlier this year. The 20-year-old has been likened to current Everton and former Palace winger Bolasie for his pace, power and technical ability.
The Englishman has previously attracted the interest of Championship sides Preston North-End and Ipswich Town and was reportedly on trial at Palace last week, whilst Stoke are also scouting the youngster.
Scott’s humble ‘non-league’ beginnings are also similar to that of Yannick Bolasie, who started his playing career at Hillingdon Borough, before enjoying a brief loan spell with National league side Rushden & Diamonds, where he previously spent five years at youth level . The DR Congo international subsequently moved onto Championship team Bristol City and then onto Palace in the summer of 2012 and Bolasie’s meteoric rise from rags to riches took another leap in the right direction when the winger sealed a £25 million transfer to Everton.
Scott may also see his opportunities increased by the fact that Bolasie has moved on this summer, due to the Eagles drop in form since his departure.
