Crystal Palace have reportedly made an €8million bid to Lille for defensive midfielder Soualiho Meite, however this potential transfer is far from straight forward.
The 22-year-old is currently on loan from Lille to Belgian side Zulte Waregem and he’s been putting in some excellent performances. These have alerted numerous clubs, such as Palace, but it looks like the Eagles are the only side to make a bid at this stage.
However, when Zulte Waregem took Meite on loan, they agreed a future transfer fee of just €400,000, which in hindsight was a huge error as the player is worth much more than that.
Lille, knowing they can now get €8million from Palace, are reportedly looking to do a deal with the Belgian side so that they choose not to sign the player.
Either way, the Eagles will need that situation to be resolved before they can even begin to discuss terms with the French U20s international.
