Today, Alan Pardew was sacked as Crystal Palace manager following a dismal 2016 in charge of the club which saw his side only pick up 26 points from an available 108 in the Premier League.
With the search now on to find Alan Pardew’s successor at Selhurst Park, one man has emerged as the overwhelming favourite for the job.
Recently dismissed England boss Sam Allardyce is the bookies favourite to take over the club, with Sky Sports News reporting that he and his representatives will meet with Palace chairman Steve Parish in the next 24 hours.

It’s believed that this move has been in the pipeline for a fortnight. Palace sounded out Allardyce to possible replace Pardew if form continued to deteriorate and after a run of just one win in 11 games, the decision was made to relieve Pardew of his duties.

Ed Malyon states that Allardyce was ready to take over as manager two weeks ago with small concerns over the finer details regarding the cost of him and his backroom staff to sort out.

co-owners in late November. Does it outstrip concerns? (@eaamalyon)
In late November, Allardyce, prepping himself to possibly take charge of Palace, sent a detailed squad analysis and outline of a January transfer plan to the club’s American owners.
While no agreement is in place, it’s fair to say that Allardyce is Palace’s No.1 target to be their next manager given his extensive experience managing in the Premier League with the likes of Bolton, Blackburn, Newcastle and West Ham.
