New Palace manager Sam Allardyce could look to one of his former players in the January transfer window, with Mirror Sport linking the Eagles with a move for Jermain Defoe.
The former England striker was signed by Allardyce during his time at Sunderland last January and could set to be pivotal in the Black Birds’ survival for yet another season if he remains in the north-east.
Defoe scored four goals in the space of five games earlier on in the season, and has a total of eight to his name in the league in 2016/17.

West Ham are said to also be interested in the striker, preparing to make £6m offer for the player who could cost Sunderland more money to replace than the bid from Hammers.
Speaking about the possibility of losing Defoe, Moyes said: “I don’t think there’s any transfer fee because we know that Jermain’s goals are so priceless to us. I wouldn’t even think about where we’d be without him. His stats for 2016 show he’s been brilliant.
“I’m not saying we’re getting the best out of him because he’s had a great career and he’s scored a lot of goals, but nobody can turn around and say they can see a demise in him. You can only see someone who will keep going.”
