Sky Sports have confirmed that they believe the bid to be somewhere in the region of £7 million.
The Dutch defender has attracted the interest of Sam Allardyce this January transfer window as he looks to strengthen defensively to avoid relegation.
The former England manager knows him well having managed at Sunderland last season, in a period that van Aanholt impressed immensely, playing a key part in their survival process.
Palace have been linked with moves for Carl Jenkinson as well as Patrice Evra, which may suggest that the Sunderland defender is not one of their main targets as they weigh up their options during the window.
The former Chelsea defender joined Sunderland in 2014 for an undisclosed fee, which was believed to be around £2 million, so the Moyes’ side would be making a profit on the player.
