Sam Allardyce is planning to swoop for 25-year-old Montpellier defender William Remy.
According to the London Evening Standard, Allardyce is being forced to look further afield as he attempts to tighten up Palace’s leaky defence to avoid relegation.
Allardyce may know more than most about Remy, the defender has previously had trials with his former side Newcastle United, where he featured in a 5-0 win over Gateshead.
Remy is a versatile defender and can slot into any of the four roles across the defence, something that may come in hand to Allardyce should they fail to land their other transfer targets.
The defender is out of contract in 2018 and has failed to break into the Montpellier side this season.
The former French youth international joined the club in 2015 but has failed to hold down a regular starting place under Frederic Hantz, meaning the move could well be on the cards for Palace.
Palace currently sit joint on points with Hull, just outside of the relegation zone and will need to drastically improve if they’re to avoid dropping down to the Championship.
