Bringing in another fullback still remains a priority for Crystal Palace this month but they’ve faced some stumbling blocks.
After agreeing a fee with Arsenal for Carl Jenkinson, the move to sign the right-back fell through after failing to agree personal terms with the England international defender which has sent Sam Allardyce back to the drawing board.
According to the Daily Mail, the Eagles are now considering reviving a bid to sign Sunderland left-back Patrick van Aanholt this month. The Black Cats have already turned down a £7m offer from Palace for the Dutchman.
Allardyce worked with Van Aanholt at Sunderland last season and would like to bring him to Selhurst Park. Having failed to bring in Jenkinson, Palace will go in with a renewed bid for Van Aanholt this month to solve their defensive issues.
Crystal Palace have also been linked with a move for Tottenham’s Ben Davies and Norwich’s Robbie Brady but have been unsuccessful with bids for both players.
