Crystal Palace manager Sam Allardyce has spoken about his frustration at the lack of incomings at Selhurst Park, saying that the club have missed out on the potential signings of “about 20” players as he looks to revamp his squad.
The former England boss also admitted that his side tried to hijack the deal that took Jake Livermore to West Brom.
We missed one yesterday in Jake Livermore. We were in the race and we didn’t win that race.

Palace are clearly in the market for a number of players and they’ll likely be very active for the remaining days of the transfer window.
So far they’ve got one signing done, that of Jeffrey Schlupp, but Big Sam is clearly looking to make more additions as he feels like his squad lacks depth and quality.
He also admitted that he is still hopeful of signing Carl Jenkinson from Arsenal and Patrick van Aanholt from Sunderland but as of yet, no deal has been done for either of the fullbacks.
Until the chairman rings me up and says the Carl Jenkinson deal is dead, it’s still ongoing for me. The same with [Patrick] van Aanholt, we’re interested.
