Left-back has been a problem position for Crystal Palace all season but Sam Allardyce is no closer to bringing in a player to fill the void left by Pape Souare.
According to the Mirror, Crystal Palace have seen a £8m bid rejected for Ben Davies this week with Tottenham unwilling to sell the defender this month.
Ever since Souare suffered a serious leg injury as a result of a car accident earlier this season, Palace have struggled at left-back with Joel Ward and Martin Kelly spending time playing out of position on the left-side of defence.
Having failed with bids for Norwich’s Robbie Brady and Sunderland’s Robbie Brady, Allardyce submitted a £8m offer for Ben Davies but he’s seen it turned down.
The 23-year-old defender, primarily a left-back, can also operate as the left-sided centre-back in a back three like he does for Wales and after Jan Vertonghen was ruled out for at least two months with an ankle injury, Mauricio Pochettino wants to keep Davies at White Hart Lane as immediate cover for the injured Vertonghen.
Juventus outcast Patrice Evra is also a player the Eagles are targeting.
