Crystal Palace have received a major boost in their pursuit of a left-back this month.
According to the Chronicle, Sunderland standout Patrick van Aanholt wants to leave the club this month, with Crystal Palace heavily interested in the fullback.
The Eagles have already seen a £7m bid for the Dutch defender rejected this month but Black Cats boss David Moyes is ready to let him leave the Stadium of Light this month with the search for a replacement well underway.
Now that Van Aanholt has expressed his desire to leave the club, Sam Allardyce could be prompted into making another offer for the player to solve his left-back issues.
Having also failed with offers for Norwich’s Robbie Brady and Tottenham’s Ben Davies, Sam Allardyce is forced to take a look at his secondary targets as the transfer window comes to a close.
Jeffrey Schlupp, who was brought in from Leicester earlier this month, can also fill in at left-back if need be but the Ghanaian is primarily a winger.
