Sam Allardyce is eager to bring in a number of players to Selhurst Park this month that he has experience working with.
With Christopher Samba on trial with a view to a free transfer move until the end of the season and a deal to sign Sunderland’s Patrick van Aanholt reportedly close, Allardyce is moving fast as the transfer window edges closer to a completion.
The Guardian broke news today that Crystal Palace were interested in signing Rubin Kazan midfielder Yann M’Vila this month.
Allardyce worked with the former Rennes midfielder last season at the Stadium of Light while the Frenchman was on loan at Sunderland. He was poised to rejoin the Black Cats this month on a three-and-a-half-year deal but he told the club he had no interest in a permanent move and the deal was scrapped.

However, Palace aren’t alone in their pursuit of the central midfielder as Hull have made signing M’Vila a priority say Foot Mercato (h/t GFFN).
M’Vila signed a new contract with the Russian outfit which reportedly contains a release clause worth €14m. The Russian transfer window opens tomorrow which means Palace have to act fast to get the deal done.
Given his history working with M’Vila and Palace’s slightly better positioning in the Premier League table, you’d expect the Eagles to have the edge in the race to sign him. M’Vila has been capped 22 times by France, scoring once.
