The January transfer window is a notoriously difficult time for clubs to land their targets and Crystal Palace boss Sam Allardyce has found this out the hard way.
Mbaye Niang is the latest in a long line of reported Palace targets that are set to move elsewhere after Watford agreed a loan deal with AC Milan. Well-respected Italian journalist Fabrizio Romano confirmed an agreement between the clubs had been reached, with Watford paying an initial €1million loan fee and agreeing to a future fee of €16million.
Niang has flown to London this morning and is expected to undergo his medical examinations before putting pen-to-paper on a six-month loan deal later today.
News of the Eagles having a £9million bid accepted by Norwich City for Robbie Brady will soften the blow of missing out on another target. The deal could rise up to £12million as a further £3million in potential add-ons have also been agreed.
Brady, a versatile left-sided player, boasts four goals and four assists this season – with half of his performances coming from left-back.
