According to Rio Ferdinand, Crystal Palace have a great addition to the squad after signing Mamadou Sakho from Liverpool on loan until the end of the season just before the end of the transfer window on Tuesday.
The 26-year-old has been an outcast at Anfield since falling out with manager Jurgen Klopp during a pre-season tour of America, seeing him dropped into the U23 development side.
Liverpool were looking to sell the defender, to re-coup the £20m that they paid for him when he joined the club but they will now have to wait until the summer to be able to do any permanent move away from Anfield.

Speaking to BT Sport after the transfer window, Rio Ferdinand has said that Klopp has made a mistake in letting the defender leave, who when he is fit, is one of the club’s best defenders.
“I think he’s Liverpool’s best defender if he’s fit and available to play,” Ferdinand said.
“Last season he was very good and I think they’ve missed him this season.
“He was their leader at the back. He’s athletic and he’ll be a great addition to Crystal Palace.”
