Former Crystal Palace striker Ian Wright has expressed his concerns over his former side’s form and is worried that they are running out of time to save themselves from relegation.
His comments come after the Eagles’ embarrassing defeat to fellow relegation candidates Sunderland at Selhurst Park on Saturday in which the Black Cats scored three goals within the space of six minutes before half-time.
During an appearance on BBC Radio 5 Live’s 606, Wright said that he thought there would be a visible change with Allardyce in charge but has become worried that, in fact, hasn’t happened.

“Palace need to cut out silly mistakes, goalkeeping mistakes, and show more consistency, players have to step up more, I thought we’d see a shift with Sam, it’s not happened,” Wright said.
“It’s not the same Sam Allardyce at Palace who went into Sunderland. Sam’s gone into Palace and nothing’s really changed. It’s a worrying time, it’s not looking good, and they are running out of time.”
The defeat left Palace in 19th and level on points with bottom club Sunderland who remain there on goal difference, a tally of which has kept Allardyce’s side out of the relegation zone on numerous occasions.

Former Crystal Palace winger Yannick Bolasie also commented in a tweet (as seen above) about the Eagles’ performance. The 27-year-old joined Everton in the summer for £30m and is currently out with a knee injury that has seen him ruled out until the back-end of the year.
