Newcastle United tried to secure a deal to take Andros Townsend back to St James’ Park during the January transfer window but were unable to agree a price with Crystal Palace.
However, the Magpies will according to Paul Fraser of The Northern Echo, try to get a deal done once again this summer, regardless of which division they were in.
Rafa Benitez was apparently angry that the club failed to secure deals for any of his targets in January, but the failure to bring in Townsend is apparently the one deal that really annoyed him.

Palace wanted £13m + a £2m loan fee for the England winger, where as Newcastle only wanted to pay the £13m that they sold him for. The two sides couldn’t come to an agreement and the move was called off.
However, Newcastle will apparently try to get him again this summer and will be hoping to have more money available as they aim to be playing Premier League football.
