Maidstone United’s Under 16s player Bivesh Gurung is taking up a scholarship with Crystal Palace, Maidstone have announced.
The midfielder joined his hometown club 18 months ago and has since played for his county representative team. During that time he was scouted by Palace and after a series of trials that took place over five months, he was offered terms to join Palace.
On the Stones’ official website he spoke of his time at the club and his move to London:
I honestly can’t thank MUFC enough for the experience and opportunities they have provided for me, helping me secure my place at a professional club. Biggest thanks to Steve and Bob [team managers] who have worked very hard with me through this time and helped me strengthen my playing ability. Lastly, thank you to my team mates – who are also my good friends off the pitch – for all that they do and for making MUFC a truly fantastic experience. My time here was an unforgettable one.
Maidstone United have said that Bivesh starts his full time scholarship with Palace this July.
