Bakary Sako got off to a hot start for Crystal Palace after signing for the club in August 2015, netting two goals and an assist in his first two appearances for the club.
Unfortunately for the winger, injuries and poor form have limited him 23 more appearances for the Eagles over the last 18 months where he’s failed to record another goal or assist in that time.
The 28-year-old has battled with multiple muscular injuries this season, in addition to his involvement at the African Cup of Nations with Mali, have seen Sakho appear just twice under Sam Allardyce who doesn’t seem to feature him in his first-team plans.
Wolves, the club who brought Sako to English football from Ligue 1 side Saint-Etienne in August 2012, are keen on re-signing the attacker in the summer transfer window the Express and Star report.
Sako enjoyed three great seasons with Wolves prior to his 2015 free transfer move to Selhurst Park, scoring 38 goals and tallying 36 assists in 124 appearances for the club.
The report notes that Wolves have all but ruled out a permanent move for the winger given the fact that they don’t want to spend big money on a player that turns 30 before the end of next season.
In addition, Sako’s £55,000-a-week wages could be a stumbling block as they’re roughly three times what Wolves were paying him during his spell in the Midlands.
A loan move will be looked into by Wolves in the summer providing they cannot secure younger and more reasonably priced targets.
