Palace went to Stamford Bridge with little or no expectation of getting anything from the game but ended up coming away will all three points against the champions-elect Chelsea.
Wilfried Zaha and Christian Benteke were both on the scoresheet as they continued their form from the international break.
Zaha scored first, shortly after Chelsea had opened the scoring. The attack was started by captain Jason Puncheon who nodded the ball to Benteke just outside the area. The striker then held it up and played in Zaha, who dribbled into the area and unleashed a low shot past the three defenders and goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois into the bottom corner to draw the scored level.
Just 60 seconds after Zaha grabbed the equaliser a swift counter-attack started by Zaha resulted in Benteke scoring the second and winning goal.
The counter-attack started on the halfway line when Benteke received the ball and he powered forwards 20 yards before finding Zaha. A slick one-two between the two saw Benteke have the ball again as he showed great composure to get Courtois on the ground as he calmly dinked the ball over him and into the empty net.
