When Christian Benteke put Crystal Palace ahead in the 31st minute of their clash with Southampton, it looked like the club were about to extend their run of victories, but that wasn’t to be the case.
Nathan Redmond’s controversial equaliser on the stroke of half-time got the Saints level and two late goals from Maya Yoshida and James Ward-Prowse respectively sealed a 3-1 win for the home side.
The loss put a stop to Palace’s four-game winning streak and allowed Hull City to move within one point of Sam Allardyce’s side, although the Eagles do have a game in hand.
For now, Palace sit in 16th place, three points clear of Swansea City, and they also have a game in hand over them.
