Despite an excellent run of form in recent times, it’s been a pretty underwhelming season for Crystal Palace.
They’re still sat too low in the table for their standards and are by no means out of trouble yet, and there have been very positive aspects of the campaign to shout about.
However, with five wins in six now at a key stage of the season, Palace look back in business under Sam Allardyce and a pivotal figure in their revival this season has been the signing of Mamadou Sakho.
The France international joined the Eagles at the very end of the January transfer window and has since guided the team to a hugely impressive five clean sheets out of six when he’s played.
Sakho clearly has the quality to compete at the highest level though and is only on loan, so a permanent move to Selhurst Park may not be realistic come the summer.
However, there are plenty of impressive central defenders out there and we’ve identified some Palace should look to sign in the summer if Sakho doesn’t stay!
