Crystal Palace took another huge step closer to safety today with a 2-1 win away at Liverpool.
It was an important game for both sides, with Jurgen Klopp’s side looking to continue their push for Champions League football next season, and with Sam Allardyce’s men hoping to set more distance between them and the relegation zone.
The match was closely contested throughout and Liverpool dominated largely spells. Their patience was rewarded early on as Philippe Coutinho curled a brilliant free-kick out of the reach of Wayne Hennessey in the Palace goal, making it 1-0 to the hosts.
However, Christian Benteke levelled against his former club shortly after, seeing the game finish 1-1 after the first 45.
The big Belgian forward wasn’t done there though, as he found himself unmarked in the box late on to head home, sending the Eagles faithful back to South London with a 2-1 win.
