Mamadou Sakho has been a revelation since his loan arrival from Liverpool during the January transfer window, helping solidify a once-porous Crystal Palace defence.
The Frenchman was an integral part of Sam Allardyce’s side that had climbed out of the relegation zone and on the verge of safety before he suffered a knee injury during the 1-0 home defeat to Tottenham.
Sakho was stretchered off with what was first feared to be a severe knee ligament injury which could sideline him for a number of months but initial reports appear wide of the mark.

Paul Joyce of the Times claims that Sakho did not suffer a cruciate knee ligament injury and that scans show only bruising and strained ligaments – with no serious or long-term damage.
Sakho will stay at Palace instead of returning to Liverpool for treatment as there remains faint hopes that the France international can get back to full fitness for the game against Manchester United on May 21st.
