Crystal Palace have been decimated by centre-back injuries of late which could derail their survival bid.
At the end of the season, the Eagles look set to say goodbye to two of their centre-backs with Mamadou Sakho likely to move elsewhere when his loan spell from Liverpool ends, while Damien Delaney’s contract is due to expire.
To counteract this, Sam Allardyce will enter the market for a centre-back and he’s plotting a raid on his former employers Sunderland for one of their top defenders.
According to the Daily Mail, Crystal Palace are looking to steal a march on West Ham, West Brom and Everton by launching a £10m bid for Lamine Kone when the transfer window opens.
Allardyce brought the defender to English football with Sunderland in January 2016 and he played a leading role in Sunderland’s survival bid last season.
Things haven’t gone to plan for Sunderland this season having been relegated to the Championship, and the expectation is that Kone and a number of other high earners will leave the club in the summer.
