Crystal Palace were rocked yesterday by the news that Sam Allardyce has quit as manager of the club, leaving the Eagles back at square one after they seemingly found their manager of the future last Christmas with the appointment of Big Sam.
Having secured their Premier League status, the job does become more attractive to available managers and Palace want to bring someone in to replace Allardyce as soon as possible so plans for the summer transfer window and next season can be finalised.
Italian source TMW claim that recently dismissed Leicester manager Claudio Ranieri is in the frame to take the reigns at Selhurst Park.
Ranieri cemented his place in Premier League history last season guiding 5000/1 outsiders Leicester to their first ever Premier League title in the most miraculous season in English football history.
Things took a turn for the worse this season as the Foxes were struggling to beat the drop and Ranieri was eventually axed and replaced by his assistant Craig Shakespeare who kept the club up quite comfortably.
Having shown no signs of retirement, the 65-year-old could be a wise appointment by the Eagles.
